Used equipment market shifts — slightly — to favour the buyer

If you love buying used farm equipment, you’re going to love what Greg “Machinery Pete” Peterson has to say about the latest trends in prices.

But before you get too excited, Peterson says that while the price dynamics might have shifted to favour the buyer, it’s only a slight shift, and it certainly doesn’t cancel out some major run-ups in the prices of certain, sought-after models over the last three years.

Changing realties on the farm and changes in the dealer networks are all driving new supply/demand dynamics of the used equipment market, he says. There are some upcoming challenges in the used market that are only now beginning to play out, including who is the second, third, or fourth buyer of massively huge equipment.
