The Canola PODcast, Ep 9: Lessons from the Agronomic Excellence Trials

Welcome to the Canola PODcast, sponsored by InVigor® hybrid canola from BASF!

In this episode, you’ll learn all about the Agronomic Excellence Trial program from BASF and how trial results can help farmers make more informed decisions when selecting and growing InVigor canola hybrids.

Host of the podcast Shaun Haney is joined by Derek Lewis, part of the Agronomic Excellence team at BASF, and Ray Mazinke, who farms in Manitoba and has been participating in the trials for over six seasons. (More below)

The Agronomic Excellence Trials are replicated trials that are conducted across multiple locations in Western Canada. Mazinke says that’s a key part of what makes the results so useful for him, as results are generated close to home, using typical equipment for the area, and under similar growing conditions.

Lewis adds that these trials help ensure that decisions on hybrid selection are made with confidence, and sales staff can be reassured that hybrids will perform for their customers.

Results of the trials are a great leaping off point for agronomists and farmers to dig in strong data of hybrid performance, allowing them to focus on the traits that are most important to the grower, Lewis says.
