Poll: What can the government do to better support farmers?

Since the Canadian Farmer Sentiment Index kicked off in September, the rating given to one metric has stayed nearly unchanged. When farmers are asked to rate how well the federal government is supporting agriculture, just two per cent give an “excellent” rating.

The numbers don’t improve much for provincial governments either, resulting in an overall negative sentiment towards current governments’ handling of the agriculture file.

What we haven’t asked is WHY farmers are rating government performance so low. Now, an impromptu poll like this one doesn’t have the statistical significance of a replicated survey, but to help us better understand where the audience feels the government is lacking, we’ve offered a few options to weigh in on.
