Farmer sentiment slides as dry weather continues and crop prices fall

Pessimism abounds in the Canadian farm industry, according to the May results of the Canadian Farmer Sentiment Index.

Over 400 farmers weighed in on the RealAgristudies survey, which asked for opinions on a range of issues including confidence in grain marketing, the direction of the industry as a whole, and an assessment of governments’ handling of agriculture.

Co-founders Shaun Haney and Justin Funk sat down to comb through the survey results in the video below. The pair discuss farmers’ negative sentiment across several categories and offer insight in to what is at play in driving those numbers lower.
