(Paige Holmquist/RealAgriculture)

There are many parallels between coaching and team sports and running an effective work force. Leveraging skill sets, managing personality conflicts, goal setting, and teamwork are just as relevant during the seeding season or harvest as they are on the pitch or playing field.

For this episode of the Mind Your Farm Business podcast, host Shaun Haney speaks with Greg Hamilton, head coach and director of national teams for Baseball Canada, to explore what it takes to build effective teams in a short window and for focused, shorter term achievements.

Not unlike the start of the seeding season, building a team with new faces in a short time before the pressure is on is what a talented coach does well. In the audio below, Hamilton shares his perspective on managing personalities, staying focused on a goal even when exhausted, and making the most of each team members’ talents and abilities.
