Corteva to roll out Optimum GLY canola for ’23 season

Corteva has made it official — Optimum GLY canola will be available for growers for seeding this year.

The trait, which offers herbicide tolerance to a higher rate of glyphosate and over a wider window of application timing, received the last market approval almost exactly a month ago, on January 13. China was the last country Corteva was waiting on to green-light the trait before its commercial release in North America.

In 2023, Optimum GLY canola will be offered for commercial planting in Canada and the United States through Corteva Agriscience seed brands Pioneer and Brevant seeds. Farmers in Australia can find it under the Pioneer brand, and see it in demonstration trials this year, in preparation for full launch in 2024, the company says.

Corteva also intends to broadly out-license Optimum GLY herbicide tolerance technology.
