S3 Air Systems looks to improve bin drying with vertical aeration

The vertical aeration system offered by S3 Air Systems may solve a few common challenges that producers face with traditional horizontal systems.

The vertical aeration system comes in three different sizes: four, six and eight stage, and Kelly Silbernagel, director of business development with S3 Air Systems, says their system saves farmers time and money without sacrificing quality.

“We’re after three main goals. We wanted to make sure that it was lightweight and that you didn’t need to have a crane to actually load it into your bin and didn’t need extra three or four guys for the extra weight,” says Silbernagle. “We wanted to make sure that it’s retrofittable. So that on existing bins, every component breaks down, it’ll all fit through an 18 by 18 inch access hole on the on the hoppers, which is a big deal. Because right now if you actually have to take panels out, remove the been offered Hopper cone water work a lot of extra costs a lot extra time”.

He stated that the structural integrity of the vertical aeration system is designed to withstand typical wear and tear and won’t collapse by an auger dumping grain onto it through the top of the bin.

The system, which was originally launched in January 2022, has gone through rigorous testing and Silbernagle says it has been tested with a variety of commodities but should only be used in bins with a diameter, or height, up to 30 feet.
