Agtron offers seed drill technology update without the new equipment price tag

Volatile markets and rising interest rates can make farmers question whether or not they should be making the move to upgrade major equipment.

Agtron Enterprises Inc. is looking to alleviate some of that burden through their Legend Air Drill Control. With the product, farmers can upgrade the technology on their equipment without having to purchase a whole new machine, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process, the company says.

The control allows producers to keep up with the technological advances that have been implemented in modern drills, including variable rate control by using a simple clutch design. It also integrates with blockage sensors.

Bill Baker, president of Agtron, adds that although the actual technology of the control will not require upgrades year after year, there is the possibility of adding more sensors and increasing the capability of the control to better suit the farmer’s needs.

Price-wise, the Legend Air Drill Control is a far cry from what producers would be looking at when purchasing a new drill altogether. Baker shares that the control can range from approximately $3,000 to $10,000, depending on the options and features selected.

Additionally, Baker says there is not a machine out there that the Legend Control isn’t compatible with. The control, which has been on the market for roughly a year, does require the installation to be done by a dealership professional, he says.
