Vermeer adds 600-cubic-foot vertical mixer to hay tool lineup

Back in fall of 2019, Vermeer Corporation acquired Schuler Manufacturing to add to its hay tool offerings.

Debuted for the first time at the National Farm Machinery Show at Louisville, Kentucky, was a 600 cubic-foot-mixer — the VT 600 twin-screw vertical mixer.

Kendra Davis, forage product marketing specialist with Vermeer, says the leading edge of the screw and the two bi-pulse legs at the floor of the mixer overlap, which helps it achieve a consistent and thorough mix.

“They also help us get a really clean, efficient clean-out at the end of the load to help with that even discharge into the bunk. So making sure all of your cows are getting the same feed, same amount of feed, and everything there. We’re pretty proud of that,” Davis explains.

The mixer also has heavy duty planetaries (gears), abrasion-resistant steel on the walls, and screw flighting, which according to Davis, helps achieve a long lasting and reliable mixer for any operation.
