Case IH is adding the Advanced Farming Systems (AFS) Connect Optum series 270 and 300 tractors to its line-up of all-purpose farming equipment.

“The biggest change on this new tractor is the cab,” says J.E. Cadle, mid-range tractor marketing manager at Case IH. The redesigned cab is much larger than previous models, with all new controls, comes equipped with the AFS Pro 1200 monitor, and has additional places to hook up monitors, plug in your phone, and has a cooler under the seat.

“If you’re looking to spend a long day in a tractor cab, this is going to be one of the nicest cabs out there,” says Cadle.

There’s also about 10 per cent more glass, so there’s better visibility all around, says Cadle. With all that glass though, you might wonder how hot it’ll get during the summer months, but Cadle says the beefed up climate system will cool the cab about 35 per cent faster.

The lighting system has also been improved with more, and larger lights spreading a bigger pattern all around the tractor.

The new AFS Connect Optum comes with the standard 30 mph (50 km/hr) CVXDrive continuously variable transmission, which provides intuitive operation and smooth power transfer. At less than 1600 engine rpm, makes for a fuel efficient machine, and a good all-purpose tractor.

Cadle says it’s a great machine for extensive roading and haulage, and the enhanced comfort features make it a good fit for high-volume hay and forage operations.

Dealers are taking orders right now, and shipments should begin late September.
