Sollio Agriculture appoints new CEO

Casper Kaastra will step in as chief executive officer of Sollio Agriculture and as executive vice-president of Sollio Cooperative Group as of July 5, says Pascal Houle, CEO of Sollio Cooperative Group.

Kaastra has worked for Sollio Agriculture since 2014 and currently serves as general manager of the crop production sector Kaastra will be responsible for continuing Sollio Agriculture’s growth in line with its strategic plan.

“I am delighted to welcome Casper to our leadership team. He has extensive experience in the Canadian and international agri-food industry and has all the qualities required to successfully lead Sollio Agriculture. The crop production sector has grown significantly under his leadership, with his keen entrepreneurial sense leading to various smart acquisitions and partnerships,” says Houle.

Kaastra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Science degree with majors in Agriculture Business, Animal Science, and Plant Science from Dordt University at Iowa. Before joining Sollio Agriculture, he worked for Cargill and the Agronomy Company of Canada.

Sollio Agriculture is the agri-business division of Sollio Cooperative Group specializing in the merchandising of farm inputs, agronomic services, working across the livestock, crop, and grain sectors. Sollio Agriculture has 1,200 employees and made $2.761 billion in sales in 2020, in Canada and abroad.
