Parrish & Heimbecker has announced it is building a new elevator at its existing site near Yorkton, Sask.

The company says the new facility, which will replace the elevator that’s been at the location since 1980, will include 25 thousand tonnes of grain storage and a 150-car loop track, serviced by CN Rail.

“We look forward to opening this new facility,” says John Heimbecker, chief executive officer, P&H. “This build confirms our commitment to investing in facilities and capabilities that support Canadian producers as they strive to grow and market the best crop and further solidifies our commitment to the growers in the Yorkton area.”

The new grain handling infrastructure will be set up alongside a recently-built 6,000 tonne fertilizer shed and 7,800 sq ft chemical shed.

Preparations have begun for construction of the elevator and rail loop, with the concrete slip pour expected to begin in late August/early September. P&H says it plans to be ready for grain deliveries by June 2022.
