Pentair Hypro, manufacturer of irrigation pumps, sprayer pumps, and sprayer nozzles, has released its most drift-reducing nozzle to date.

The Ultra Lo-Drift Max nozzle provides up to 95 per cent drift reduction, compared to the company’s flat fan 03 nozzle, Pentair says.

A FastCap version utilizes SnapLock cap technology, which reduces the installation torque requirement by up to 73 per cent, according to internal company testing.

“Our new Ultra Lo-Drift Max nozzle is the ideal Pentair Hypro spray nozzle for use where drift reduction is paramount,” says product manager Luis Dowling. “At Pentair, we are continually innovating to develop precision agriculture technology that accurately applies liquid fertilizer and pesticides in ways that improve yield while reducing input costs, and also helping minimize the impact on the surrounding environment.”

The nozzle provides a 130-degree-wide spray angle, and its design extends below the nozzle cap by five mm less than its closest competitor, which the company says prevents accidental damage to the nozzle tip. It is designed to appear on auxin herbicide labels.

The company is working with sprayer operators and advisers to further characterize and evaluate it for practice in many different growing regions.
