TireGrabber Reversible recognized for farm safety innovation

The TireGrabber, a device that helps farmers safely change large-scale tires on their own, has been adapted to fit a wider range of tire sizes.

Called the TireGrabber Reversible, the new self-changing device fits more tire sizes and industries — like construction, mining, and aviation — and has won first place for Farm Safety at this year’s innovation showcase at Manitoba Ag Days.

“Many of our customers have machinery that have different tire sizes, so they have been asking for more flexibility,” says Darcy Goossen, Alberta farmer and TireGrabber inventor. “This led me to come up with The TireGrabber Reversible that handles 34 inch to 89 inch tires just as safely and efficiently.”

Goossen initially invented the device to make it easier and safer for him and his employees to change and handle their own large-scale tires on-farm. The process took five years of research, development, and testing.
