Dahl hired as new general manager of Manitoba Pork

The Manitoba Pork Council has announced the hiring of a new general manager.

Cam Dahl, currently the chief strategy officer for Cereals Canada, will be joining the provincial pork organization as of February 22, 2021.

Dahl served as the founding CEO of Cereals Canada for several years prior to its merger with the Canadian International Grains Institute in 2020. He has previously served as general manager of the Manitoba Beef Producers, as a commissioner for the Canadian Grain Commission, and as executive director of Grain Growers of Canada.

Dahl is also a director for the Canada Grains Council and chair of the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Crops, which is currently holding consultations on the Responsible Grain code of practice.

He previously served as president of the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame.

Dahl will replace Andrew Dickson, who spent 16 years as general manager of Manitoba Pork.

Manitoba’s pork producers marketed around 7.7 million pigs, and exported 2.7 million weanlings into the U.S., in 2019 — representing approximately a 29 per cent share of the Canadian pork market, according to the council.
