Challenger rolls out MT800 track tractors

The new AGCO Challenger MT800 track tractors could be considered the MT700’s “big brother,” with lots of options and upgrades.

There’s different sizes and options for models and the new series builds on the success of the MT700s. Joining Bernard Tobin to break it all down is David Soliday, AGCO senior tactical marketing manager.

“From a model perspective, we have four models: the MT851, which has 511 horsepower; the MT856, at 564 horsepower; the MT862, with 618 horsepower; and then the MT867, with 673 horsepower,” says Soliday.

The Challenger Accu-VT continuously variable transmission (CVT) is engineered to optimize the benefits of track tractors.

“We have a long history of using CVT transmissions here at AGCO, from an engine perspective our three smaller models in the 800 series use a 15.2 litre in-lay, and our large 867 uses 16.2 litres,” says Soliday. All models in the new series come with CVT, allowing operators to achieve ground speeds of 65 feet per hour to 25 mph, at reduced engine speed.

Other upgrades for this series are new engine and transmission combinations, more track belt options to manage soil compaction, and operator comforts, like SmartRide suspension.

Challenger MT800 series track tractors will be available in 2021.
