Viterra to build new elevator northwest of Winnipeg

Viterra has announced the construction of a new 34,000 metric tonne grain terminal at Rosser, Man., just northwest of the city of Winnipeg.

The new facility will feature a loop track capable of loading up to 134 railcars, and will replace Viterra’s existing smaller elevator at Rosser.

“We’re pleased to be renewing our commitment to farm customers in the Rosser and surrounding area through this significant investment,” says Kyle Jeworski, Viterra’s president and CEO for North America.

“By revitalizing our presence in this area through a modern state of the art facility, we will provide customers with convenient access to the superior service, marketing opportunities and advice that makes us an industry leader,” continues Jeworski.

The Rural Municipality of Rosser held a public hearing regarding a Viterra elevator expansion in February, but the company did not publicly confirm its plans or timeline until the announcement on July 16.

Construction of the new facility is to begin immediately, with completion planned for the fall of 2021.
