New X Series John Deere combines debut in North America

John Deere is adding two new models of X Series combines to its 2021 harvesting lineup, the X9 1000 and X9 1100.

A wider feeder house, dual separator, and the larger cleaning shoe differentiate the X Series from the S Series.

“At the heart of the new combine is the X Series Dual Separator (XDS) with the largest threshing and separation areas Deere has ever offered, says harvesting product manager Matt Badding in a press release, “Crop in the XDS is threshed and separated during nine revolutions, resulting in less grain loss and increased harvesting capacity.”

The X9 1100 can harvest up to 30 acres of tough, high-yielding wheat per hour and up to 7,200 bushels per hour of corn. Adjustments for conditions are made automatically by the machine. The 75 square foot Dyna-Flo XL cleaning shoe has 36 per cent more cleaning area than the S790.

Deere has also upped the ante with fuel efficiency in the X Series — compared to an S790, the X9 1100 uses up to 20 per cent less fuel per bushel harvested, with a run-time of up to 14 hours between fills.

In addition to mechanical improvements, Deere has also streamlined technology in the X Series, including an integrated StarFire 6000 Receiver, which does not require calibration of the Terrain Compensation Module, with a faster boot-up time to acquire GPS signal. Deere’s JDLink is standard on both the 1000 and 1100, comes with five years of service.

Three technology packages, as well as three cab packages are available for the X Series: Select, Premium, and Ultimate, in ascending order of features included.

The main difference between the 1000 and 1100, is grain tank size— the 1000 can hold up to 420 bushels and the 1100 can hold up to 460 bushels. Folding augers also come in three different lengths for either model: 26, 28.5 and 31 feet.

Deere says they will start taking orders for the X Series combines later this summer. Check out this interview with RealAgriculture Field Editor Bernard Tobin and Matt Badding, detailing some of the features of the X9 Series:
