Hello! My name is Lara de Moissac and I am excited to be the newest addition to the RealAgriculture team, joining as staff writer.
I grew up on a grain farm in the West Central region of Saskatchewan. After high school I attended Olds College for an applied degree in horticulture and later on, the University of Lethbridge for a BSc in Agricultural Studies. I’ve lived in cities across southern AB, in Chilliwack, BC, and back in my home province of SK, for now. I’ve worked as a professional gardener, chemical sales assistant, agronomy assistant, and as a hops agronomist.
Prior to joining the RealAgriculture team, I recently finished my MSc in Soil Science at the University of Saskatchewan, where I studied the effect of rotation sequence on biological nitrogen fixation of pulse crops across SK. If you’re a farmer whose land I sampled from while completing that project, I can’t thank you enough.
Not only did I learn all about soils of Saskatchewan and how to conduct research during my MSc, but also how to communicate science through presenting and the written word. I look forward to using this skill, and to gaining new ones to support the RealAgriculture content team, covering all aspects of agriculture.
