IntelliDrive sets sights on commodity cart market

IntelliDrive, the variable rate seed metering system, is expanding its Canadian footprint.

The company, which uses 12-volt electric motors to control individual sections of seeding equipment to enable variable rate planting, initially focused its efforts on John Deere central commodity system drills.

Two years ago, IntelliDrive made its first foray to Canada as an exhibitor at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show and have several units working near Woodstock, Ontario. Plans are in the works to have units in Western Canada for 2020.

At the recent National Farm Machinery Show (NFMS) in Louisville, Kentucky, IntelliDrive’s Rusty Kordick said the company has now set its sights on the commodity cart market. They’ll be using more prominent components, but with electric drives, IntelliDrive-equipped carts will be able to execute seeding prescriptions and also use row shut-offs to help save seed.

In this interview with RealAgriculture’s Bernard Tobin, Kordick explains how the IntelliDrive system works.
