Using soil moisture measurements, temperature, relative humidity, and precipitation data, Bosch is offering producers variable alerts, customized field recommendations, and the ability to view local, real-time data on their smartphones.
It all starts with installing sensors directly into the field.
“From there,” says Bosch’s Simon Munder, “we’re measuring micro-climatic conditions, we are measuring conditions above the field. All of these we bring together, we upload to the cloud, where we have our algorithms.”

Those algorithms combine the available data to allow users to know the crop’s developmental stage, while providing recommendations based on its staging.
In addition, users can set variable alerts surrounding frost, excessive heat, drought, or stagnant water.
While currently used mainly in horticultural production, Bosch plans to expand the platform to include plant growth models of all plants in traditional agriculture and specialty crop production.
