CLAAS to debut seed green and white combines in North America

Claas’s new 8000-7000 series combine is delivering more throughput, while also showing its true colours — no, really.

“Finally, after many years of being yellow and black because of our affiliation with Caterpillar in the past, we finally got back to the [seed] green and white colours that are traditional CLAAS colours,” says Patrick Arnold, product specialist with CLAAS, as he stands in front of the company’s 8800 at Agri-Trade at Red Deer, Alta.

The new series features a grain tank capacity up to 510 bushels, an up to 790 horsepower engine output, and an unloading speed of 5.1 bushels per second. Its new APS synflow hybrid system sees a 10 per cent increase in throughput, with low fuel consumption and high straw quality.

“What’s different is the main threshing cylinder is quite a lot larger now than it was before — it’s 30 inches in diameter now. And the impeller, which is the most rear cylinder, that is now 24 inches.”

The series sees changes to the cab as well, says Arnold, including more space, a larger window into the grain tank, better accessibility for combine adjustments, and a fridge and cooler. It can also travel up to 25 mph down the road.

Combines in the series are available to order now.
