New program to help Ontario food, agri-product exporters to pursue new markets

As trade talks among several countries continue to rock the markets, the Ontario government is stepping up to help those that export food and agri-products to pursue new markets.

The provincial government will begin accepting applications for its Market Access Initiative, a new cost-share funding initiative that’s open to all Ontario food and agri-product exporters.

According to its website, funding is available for up to 75 per cent of eligible costs depending on what category the project falls under. The initiative is supported by the federal government’s Canadian Agricultural Partnership.

Eligible projects will include activities such as developing plans to access new international or domestic markets and engaging in further marketing activities to achieve this outcome.
