New Holland goes high capacity with twin basket rake

Forage producers can rake up to a 30-foot swath with the New Holland Rolabar 230 twin basket forage rake.

New Holland product marketing manager George Rigdon says the high-capacity rake is a good fit for producers looking to increase overall efficiency and productivity by reducing the number of field passes.

The manufacturer unveiled the Rolabar 230 last week at the Farm Progress Show at Decatur, Illinois. In this interview, Rigdon explains how the rake’s unique design allows the tines to more closely follow the ground contours, while leaving the dirt in the field. The result, he says, is cleaner hay and more of it. The 230 model offers a full range of basket flotation settings as well as standard front and rear gauge wheels, which improve raking performance.

Other features include a simple, intuitive wireless control pad for easy control of key basket functions. With a touch of the pad, producers can raise and lower, or fold and unfold the basket, notes Rigdon. He adds that the controller can also be used to match both basket and ground speed to ensure good windrow formation and reduce leaf loss and shatter.
