Kinze planter adds downforce, flex, and fertilizer options for 2020

Kinze is rolling out a new configuration of its 36-row, 20-inch planter for spring 2020.

The Iowa-based manufacturer has added a string of technological advancements to its 4700 planter, which it unveiled at the recent Farm Progress Show at Decatur, Illinois. In this video, Eric Broadbent, Kinze’s North American sales director, explains that the new configuration will feature a host of the company’s latest technologies including its Blue Vantage display, Blue Drive electric drive and True Depth active hydraulic down force, which delivers row-by-row downforce control.

Broadbent adds that the 4700 touts a three-section frame that provides 15 degrees of tool bar flex up and down for superior ground contact. The planter also carries 600 gallons of liquid fertilizer capacity. “That is class leading for this series of planter,” he says.

Growers can look for another upgrade in 2021 when Kinze expects to add a centre track option. With a planter of this size, Broadbent says the manufacturer needs to look at ways to alleviate the potential for compaction that comes with 36 cast row units. Kinze believes adding tracks will help float the planter across the terrain to minimize compaction.
