Precision Plant addition improves tried-and-true air drill

Taking a good piece of equipment and using new technology to simply make it better can be an affordable way to improve your equipment stable.

For Murray Froebe, Manitoba farmer and Precision Planting representative, installing the Seeder Force downforce technology on his 12 year old 1895 John Deere air drill has improved crop establishment without the need to buy an all-new seeder.

Seeder Force by Precision Planting is a similar concept to Delta Force, but specifically designed for drills instead of planters. First introduced last year, the hydraulic, downforce technology added to an existing drill rolled out on Froebe’s farm this spring.

Froebe says they planted small grains, canola, and soybeans with the drill, and the resulting crop has been more uniform in maturity vs. the same drill in past years. The modification and add-on was all done in the farm’s shop over the winter.
