Public speaking makes many people very nervous, but for others it’s very natural.

For Kaitlyn Kitzan its a talent she put to good use in the House of Commons this week as she represented Daughters of the Vote. The program is the brainchild of Equal Voice, a non-partisan group working to increase the number of women in elected politics.

Kitzan took the opportunity, while representing the riding of Conservative leader Andrew Scheer, to promote the value of agriculture to the Canadian economy. Kitzan, a farm girl from Theodore, Sask., who has significant interests in ag policy and food security, felt this was a great opportunity to talk about the industry she loves and has great importance to every Canadian.

Listen to Kaitlyn’s House of Commons address in Ottawa.

In her speech Kitzan told the house that Canadian farmers are struggling everyday with international trade disputes, transportation issues, and environmental policies.

As Kitzan describes in the audio below from Thursday’s Realag Radio some of here fellow delegates were upset that she did not focus on specific “women’s issues.”

“Every issue should be a women’s issue and thats why I talked about what I did,” Kitzan says.
