Case IH has unveiled the new AFS Connect Magnum series tractors and new technology partners as they rethink the way a tractor can be operated. The Case IH Advanced Farming Systems (AFS) precision technology is another step in the process of developing self-driving machinery for farmers.
Bill Weber, Case IH high-horsepower marketing leader, was at the National Farm Machinery Show at Louisville, Kentucky for the unveiling of the new design. He says that the AFS Connect Magnum tractor is all about technology, “It continues the path, that we see going forward, as far as autonomous concept.”
According to Weber there are five different levels to the independence of autonomous vehicles, and several of them have been incorporated into the AFS Connect tractors. “From the AFS Connect prospective it allows us to do a number of things: one we can transfer data; two, we have the freedom to adjust, either from the tractor prospective, or coached remotely. Also, it allows you to manage your operation from anywhere in the world.”
CASE IH has decided to use the Android operating system for the AFS Connect tractors, which allows them to take advantage of one of the most widely used operating systems in the world.
The new AFS Connect Magnum also has a redesigned cab for operator comfort, a new larger door for ease of access, and has charging and data ports throughout the cab.
