Farm dogs: Always there when you need them most

Through life you’ll have ups and downs. In my eyes, one thing is for certain — if you have a pet (a dog, preferably), the good days will always out-number the bad.

Those “bad days” can be something as simple as not getting what you wanted to accomplish complete, or might be much more complex, like family or money issues, or even things beyond your control, such as politics or plummeting market prices.

Whatever it may be, we’re human; we’re bound to have bad days. But if you’re lucky, you’ll have a four-legged friend to be there for you when you need it most.

For that, I salute the farm dogs that are going to be there for the upcoming planting and production season. Times could be tough this year if there’s a repeat of less moisture, high DON levels, and for some — like those in PEI — having to harvest 2018’s crop, while planting this year’s crop.

Recently, RealAgriculture’s Twitter account started a thread asking its followers to post their Employee of the Month (year?) — their farm dog.
