The Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB) named a new chair at its annual general meeting held recently in Calgary. Anne Wasko will take the gavel from outgoing chair Cherie Barnes and build on the momentum that the program has already achieved.
Followers of RealAgriculture will be quite familiar with Anne Wasko who has been providing cattle market analysis on this site since 2010.
Thanks to u and ur team for the excellent progress CRSB has made to date. Looking forward to the next chapter(s). https://t.co/Wnvbp53ZI8

McDonald’s recently served up its first Mighty Angus burgers that bear the CRSB verified beef logo. This, however, is just the beginning of what the label and protocol hope to achieve.

Virgil Lowe, business manager of Verified Beef Production Plus (VBP+), was on RealAg Radio during the summer to discuss the program and how it is a big deal for the Canadian beef industry. “We are basically able to use the indicators of sustainability that were determined by the CRSB,” says Lowe.
Shaun Haney, host of RealAg Radio says, “the word sustainable has been used against producers many times, but in this case producers are on the right side of sustainability and can deliver a great product to the customers at McDonald’s.”
In that same interview Lowe said, “It’s about taking those indicators and telling a story to the consumer.”
Along with being the chairperson of the CRSB, Anne Wasko provides market analysis on RealAgriculture and ranches in southeast Saskatchewan with her husband Barry.
