Saputo announces $660,000 to support 4-H dairy programs

Youth involved in 4-H dairy programs have an extra reason to celebrate World Milk Day today.

Saputo has announced a partnership with 4-H Canada that will see the dairy processor invest $660,000 over the next three years.

The partnership will support members in 4-H dairy cow and goat programs with “grants, awards, and opportunities to attend provincial, national and international conferences.” The funding is also aimed at encouraging youth to explore careers in dairy through global internships and 4-H’s Careers on the Grow job search platform.

“4-H Canada is very pleased to partner with Saputo,” says Shannon Benner, 4-H Canada CEO. “We are delighted to have this exceptional opportunity to pool our networks, know-how and resources. Together, we are investing in youth to ensure healthy communities and positive change for our world.”

4-H Canada says there more than 4,200 members currently participating in 4-H dairy cow and goat programs.

World Milk Day is celebrated every June 1st, and is observed by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as an opportunity to recognize the importance of milk as a global food and to bring bring attention to activities that are connected with dairy production.

The Global Dairy Platform, whose members include dairy companies, associations, scientific bodies from around the world, is coordinating celebrations, with a “Raise a Glass” theme and the #WorldMilkDay hashtag.
