Farm equipment maker Elmer’s Manufacturing has announced a deal to acquire another southern Manitoba-based manufacturer, adding rotary ditching equipment to the Elmer’s product lineup.

Elmer’s has reached an agreement to acquire 100 percent of Dynamic Ditchers Inc., the makers of the Wolverine Extreme Rotary Ditcher.

Production will be moved from Dynamic’s location near Dugald, Man. to the Elmer’s facility at Altona, Man.

“Dynamic Ditchers is very pleased with the growth we have experienced, especially in the past few years. However, if this growth continues, we would have needed to expand our facility beyond what we can do with the property we now have,” notes Anthony Vaags, co-owner of Dynamic Ditchers, in a news release issued Monday. “Elmer’s has a very impressive large manufacturing plant, a remarkable engineering team, a wider distribution network and a better parts warehouse that we felt would better serve new and existing customers…”

Started by a farmer in 1999, Dynamic Ditchers debuted the Wolverine rotary ditcher (left) in 2008. The company says it sold 275 models by the end of 2014.

Dynamic Ditchers also builds a bale shredder under the Wolverine name.

“Anthony (Vaags) and Stan (Kurtas) have done a great job building this product to where it is today and we’re ecstatic to take it to the next level,” says Mike Friesen, vice president of Elmer’s Manufacturing.

Elmer’s also manufactures the HaulMaster Grain Cart, Super 7 Harrow, and Transfer Tracks at its production facility near Altona. The company says the Wolverine rotary ditcher will continue to be available through existing dealers, as well as the Elmer’s dealer network.

The deal to acquire Dynamic Ditchers is set to close on June 1st.
