It’s been a great start to Manitoba Ag Days, as it celebrates its 41st anniversary. This year, the show features over 550 exhibitors and 63 speakers over 540,000 square feet of show space. But it wasn’t always this size.

“The show actually started as a weed fair, and it was…just 38 exhibitors,” says general manager Kristen Phillips, in the following interview with RealAgriculture’s Shaun Haney. “Then it actually used to rotate from Brandon to Winnipeg, so you’d actually do a day in Brandon, every vendor would pack up, go to Winnipeg, a day in Winnipeg.”

Over time, the trade show shifted to two, then three days in Brandon, MB. And last year, it entered into a five-year partnership with Brandon Keystone Centre and Brandon Curling Club, to use the curling club as an additional 19,000 square feet of floor space.

“If we could double the space of the Keystone, we would fill every square inch still.”

Phillips expects to welcome between 45 and 50,000 visitors this week.
