Before the Plate documentary launches official trailer

Before the Plate’s interactive website allows visitors to choose an ingredient to track back to the farm

Eight farmers, 10 ingredients, one plate — that’s the premise behind Before the Plate, a coming documentary looking to connect everyday people in a transparent, open-barn-door way with the food they eat.

Before the Plate follows John Horne, head chef of the downtown Toronto restaurant Canoe, on a journey sourcing 10 ingredients featured at his restaurant.

From its beginnings with a Kickstarter campaign, film producer Dylan Sher and his production team have released the first trailer of the film (see below). The premiere of the film has been announced premiere for Sunday, August 5th and will take place at the Isabel Bader theatre in Toronto.

The plate-to-farm-gate story is also intended for submission to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) happening in September. Those interested in attending the premiere can follow the EventBrite link here. For more information and a tour of the 10-ingredient plate visit BeforeThePlate.com.
