With government funding programs comes last minute changes and updates, but never fear, RealAgriculture and Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association regional program lead, Margaret May, have joined forces to bring you the latest updates to GF2 programming (That’s Growing Forward 2, for all of you who have been hiding under a rock).
Of particular note, May explains in the interview below, there is no longer a limit to the number of active applications a farm business may have, however the number of applications allowed per intake is still set at two. There are also changes to several BMP (best management practices) maximum cost-share levels, and some programs now have expanded reach across the province (yay, no-till and strip-till equipment!).
Also, four new BMPs have been announced in regards to greenhouse gas reduction, tackling indoor agriculture facilities, geothermal applications, on-farm efficiency, and soil- and water-related topics. There’s also a new Greenhouse Gas Ontario Covered Agriculture Calculator (GO-CALC), found through the OSCIA website, here.
Listen below for some key points on what’s new for the next two intakes!
