Richardson Pioneer says it has signed a deal to acquire Crop First Agro, an independent crop input retailer in Grenfell Saskatchewan.

“We are excited to join the Richardson team and greatly strengthen the services we offer to our customers,” said Dave Edgar, co-owner of Crop First Agro, in a statement on Tuesday.

Richardson says the existing staff are staying, and the company plans to add a high speed fertilizer blender to the seed and crop protection services offered by Crop First Agro.

Richardson is also building new crop input centres in Pasqua, Elrose and Wakaw, Saskatchewan, all of which are expected to be open by the end of 2017.

“We are very focused on growing our retail crop inputs network across the Prairies,” said Tom Hamilton, Richardson’s Vice-President, Agribusiness Operations. “We will continue to look for strategic areas where there are opportunities to expand our Richardson Pioneer network.”
