World Dairy Expo’s Shavings Are Solid Gold

Each year, much planning and prep goes into putting on a show of the World Dairy Expo‘s calibre. Held the first week of October at Madison, WI, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the show, and to honour this golden anniversary, expo organizers went all out.

In this quick video below, World Dairy Expo’s Ann Marie Magnochi chats with RealAgriculture’s Bern Tobin about a very special reveal each year — the colour of the shavings in the main show ring. This year it’s gold, says Magnochi, to honour the show’s 50th anniversary.

Since 1985, the World Dairy Expo has featured many different shavings colours, and Magnochi explains how they make that call, plus the process of getting the colour right, and how they keep it top secret each year:
