Watch Closely for Funding Application Announcements: OSCIA

There’s funding out there, Ontairo farmers — but you’ve got to pay attention in order to get in, says Margaret May, regional program lead with the Ontario Soil & Crop Improvement Association (OSCIA).

I caught up with May at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show (as is our tradition, it seems) to quickly recap four funding programs that farmers may be eligible for, but each has specific prerequisites and potentially short-notice intakes.

In the video below, May covers off:

a) Species at Risk program. This is open now, for projects between April 1 and December 15, 2016;
b) There’s no date set yet for GLASI or Farmland Health Incentive Program. Keep watch!
c) Grasslands Stewardship funding will open in January and February, 2017. This is for pasture improvement projects; and,
d) the GF2 intake opens October 14, 2016, and closes November 3, 2016.

Interested in any of these? Nearly all of them require a completed workshop or two as a prerequisite to application, so get your workshops done asap! Visit www.ontariosoilandcrop.org for a full listing.
