Beef Market Update: Up Days & Getting Current

In a strange turn of events, cattle prices actually moved up a few days in a row. What’s going on? Was Friday’s cattle-on-feed report that supportive? Have retail prices finally pulled back and demand is climbing?

To delve into what’s at work in the cattle markets, we go, as always, to Anne Wasko of Gateway Livestock to get this week’s Beef Market Update. Several factors have converged to buoy this market, but Wasko would call the cattle-on-feed report friendly, but not bullish.

From there, Wasko and RealAgriculture’s Shaun Haney talk feeder cattle prices both south of the border and here at home, and tackle the seasonal pull back in cull cow prices.

That leads us to talk demand — are we finally seeing a break to near record high retail prices? Nope.
