A Saskatoon-based company known for its wireless grain cart (or buggy, if you prefer) weighing and data management system is bringing the technology to feed mixers in feedlots and dairies.
Agrimatics will be introducing its Libra TMR (total mixed ration) system shortly, explained co-founder and CEO Ian Meier, as we caught up with him at the Farm Progress Show in Iowa a few weeks ago.
Using the same technology as the Libra Cart platform, the feed and ration management system will be iPad-based and connected to load cells on the mixer using Bluetooth electronics.
“It allows all the ingredients to be entered into the app, the rations with all the ingredients as part of them, and it allows you to assign what ration gets fed to which pen, how many head are in each pen. It makes it easy to execute a ration — to feed it properly,” he says in the video below.
“You can say you want to feed X feed group and it will tell you you need so much of this ingredient and so much of that ingredient. It also allows us to scale by dry matter, which is really important for this application,” noted Meier.
Using Agrimatics’ cloud service, a nutritionist can also log in and remotely manage rations for their customers.
While they don’t have a firm date set, the company plans to release the Libra TMR system this winter.
