Wheat:
- Report your yields! Only about 50% have been reported and Wheat Pete wants to know what the record is! Sep 1 deadline.

- When you look at performance trials, remember there are managed and unmanaged trials.
Drought Broken:
- A lot of farmers excited about soybean response to rain, but Johnson doubts it’ll be an above-average crop across the province.
- Why are tiles running in some downpours and not others?
Liquid Manure:
- Remember your neighbours — if you leave that liquid manure on the surface, it can smell for over a week!
- At least drop a note in their mailbox, and think about timing.
Soil Tests and Fertility:
- It’s a great time to soil test! Fields harvested and enough moisture you can get the probe in the ground.
- If it’s super dry, potash levels will be lowered (tied up in clay content, organic matter).
- On heavy clay soils, can I apply more than 300lb/ac potash?
- If I’ve applied 60lbs of elemental sulphur over the last three years, why isn’t it showing up in the soil test?
- How much potash and sulphur do we want to apply to summer-seeded alfalfa?
Phragmites:
- Invasive grass with a massive rhizome root system.
- One application of glyphosate is not going to be good enough.
- Imazapyr is likely a better idea.
- Remember: repeated applications.
