TechTour: John Deere Makes Combine Changes to Boost Capacity

John Deere’s W- and T-Series combines underwent a comprehensive redesign for 2016. The new models have larger active separation and cleaning shoe areas; faster unloading rates and crop conversion; 40km/h top speeds; and more power.

“The goal from the new development of the new T-series was to increase the capacity of the machine,” John Deere’s Christian Gilles explains to Shaun Haney in this episode of the Techtour. “We’ve seen capacity increases in field tests up to 10-15% in small grain harvest.”

The increased overshot beater diameter, which is now at 500mm, also ensures high straw quality, according to the company. The rear separator drum diameter (now 800mm) together with a grate with more openings has also added some flexibility (and efficiency) to harvest, allowing better separation “even under tough and wet harvesting conditions.”

And who doesn’t appreciate a mere 90 second unload time?
