TechTour: Krone Launches Updated Big X 770 at Agritechnica

Krone launched its new Big X 770 forage harvester at Agritechnica, bringing updated technology and new style to the Big X lineup.

The forage harvester boasts a 16.16 litre V8 engine, and outputs 775 horsepower, with improved safety features, including: additional indicators in mudguards, an extra step on the access ladder, and better overall visibility of all parts of the machine. It also comes with a standard cutterhead brake, like models 600, 700, 850 and 1100, allowing the drum to go from full speed to standstill in less than 10 seconds.

The cutterhead is also offered with MaxFlow, and a choice of 20, 28 or 36 knives. But, there are even more options than that, according to Krone’s Benedikt Schafers.

“We offer different drums now, starting from 20 knives going up to 48 knives,” he told RealAgriculture’s Shaun Haney at Agritechnica. “We have special knife drums with 40 and 40 knives, especially made for the biogas demand.”

Schafers says it’s a more modern machine overall. And it’s additional offerings seem to prove that, with optional reversing and spout camera systems, optional LEDs for working and step lights.

Although Krone’s Big X 770 is not available in North America, the company has recently expanded their lineup of Big X forage harvesters here too. The four new models range in horsepower from 489 to 617, with a completely redesigned exterior and revised crop flow components. Read more…
