Up Close With The Case 140 Series Combine

Case IH says new features for its Axial-Flow 140 combine series will deliver superior harvesting and threshing performance, putting more higher-quality grain in the tank.

The 2016 combines rolled out at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois, in September and include many features farmers have seen on the company’s flagship class 8 and 9 combines.

Case’s North American Combine Manager Cy Werda took Real Agriculture on a tour of a 6140 combine. It features a new two-speed electronic transmission designed to provide quick and seamless control when changing gears, higher speed ranges and greater traction.

A new lightweight concave wheel design, weighing half of previous models, lightens the workload and makes it easier to tailor the combine to different crop and field types. Werda explains that a new CrossFlow cleaning system is built to handle more capacity at higher speeds and can increase productivity on uneven terrain by 20 per cent. It also features a six-auger bed system to increase cleaning capacity by up to 5,000 bushels per hour.

A new pivoting spout makes for better unloading efficiency.  The spout can be adjusted from inside the cab and a remote camera kit makes it easier to monitor the spout when unloading.  Werda also notes that the residue management system has been completely redesigned. It includes a chevron blade-mounting pattern for more consistent distribution.
