Agritechnica 2015: Lamborghini Tractors Aim to Live Up to Their Name

When you hear “Lamborghini,” do you think of luxurious, fast, high-end…tractors?

It’s true, Ferruccio Lamborghini and his family were in the business of manufacturing tractors before they started making legendary sports cars.

They eventually sold the tractor business, but the Lamborghini Trattori brand of tractors lives on as part of Same Deutz-Fahr — the Italian agricultural manufacturing company.

“It is a premium tractor. We want to sell it as an exclusive tractor. It’s very much oriented on the Lamborghini car, because it’s very exclusive, very special,” says Georg-Otto Fuchs, head of marketing in Germany, in this video filmed at Agritechnica in Hannover.

So who’s in the market for these high-end tractors?

“It’s the farmer looking for a high technology tractor because we offer the full range of technology that we can,” he says, referring to precision farming tools. “In addition, it’s a customer who is looking for something special. They are not going with the mainstream, buying a John Deere, Case and so on. They are going for something special.”

Lamborghini offers four main farm models, ranging in size from the 80hp Strike to the 250hp Mach VRT. They also sell several vineyard/orchard and yard tractors. As Fuchs explains, all Lamborghini machines feature a signature white and black Italian-designed look.
