“Crystal has provided strong leadership and made significant contributions to both development and continued growth of Farm & Food Care Ontario and our founding groups during her 11-year tenure,” said John Maaskant, chair of Farm & Food Care Ontario.

Mackay has already managed the national group’s work on a part-time basis since the Farm and Food Care Foundation was formed in 2010 with the aim of building public trust in food and farming across Canada. (The foundation changed its name to Farm & Food Care Canada in May of this year.)

“Farm & Food Care is on a great path for growth. The need for a shared strategic investment in public trust in food and farming continues to expand across sectors and across the country,” said Bruce Christie, chair of Farm & Food Care Canada. “…we look forward to continuing to build on the momentum we’ve already gained.”

A search for her replacement at Farm & Food Care Ontario is underway.

Farm & Food Care Canada also has a provincial affiliated group in Saskatchewan, as the Farm Animal Council of Saskatchewan became Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan in September 2014.
