The dean of the University of Guelph’s Ontario Agricultural College is leaving the school to become the vice-president, research, at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo.

Rob Gordon will begin his appointment at WLU on November 1st.
He has been the OAC dean since 2008, coming from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. Gordon also received a PhD from U of G in 1996.
“It has truly been an honour and privilege to be dean of OAC, and I will forever be indebted to what the OAC has provided me both as a student and more recently as dean,” he said in a bulletin from the university on Monday.
“Rob is an excellent leader who tackled important operational challenges while creating a positive and forward-moving work environment. He is dedicated to students, staff and faculty alike, and helped grow OAC’s reputation for agri-food innovation,” noted U of G president Franco Vaccarino. “We will miss Rob and wish him the very best in this exciting new senior role.”
Gordon is currently on the boards of the Rural Ontario Institute and the Agricultural Institute of Canada, as well as past chair of the Canada Committee on Natural Resources for the Canadian Agriculture Research Council.
There were no details provided on finding his replacement.
