Kevin Nixon, beekeeper and chair of the Canadian Honey Council, has been making media rounds today, following the theft of 12 hives from Nixon Honey Farm near Innisfail, AB.

On CBC Radio today, Nixon estimated the total number of bees stolen to be around 600, 000. Along with the honey and hives, Nixon pegged their worth at approximately $6000.

Nixon Honey Farm was started in 1998 with only a few employees. Today, the farm hires 16 people, and ships honey worldwide. The company is offering a $1000 reward for the recovery of their hives.
