Enns Brothers Acquires Western Manitoba Deere Dealer

Manitoba’s largest John Deere dealer is expanding its presence in the southwest corner of the province.

Enns Brothers Ltd. and D.B. Murray announced a purchase agreement today that will see Enns Brothers Ltd. acquire 100 percent of the operating assets of D.B. Murray Ltd in Melita.

“After 37 years for D.B. Murray Ltd. and over 100 years for the Murray family in business in the southwest corner, we are excited to be moving forward as part of the Enns Brothers operation,” said Dwayne Murray, president and general manager of D.B. Murray Ltd. “This agreement will allow us to continue to provide our customers with the service and support that built D.B. Murray Ltd. and provide opportunities to grow with Enns Brothers. I would like thank our customers and employees for all the years of loyalty, and look forward to the opportunities this new venture provides.”

The Murray name has a long history in machinery sales in southwest Manitoba and southeast Saskatchewan, going back to start of Murray Machinery in the early 1900s in Lyleton by Andrew Baird Murray. In 1928, his son Ted Murray opened a dealership in Deloraine and in 1933, Robert Murray opened a location in Melita. In 1954, Robert Murray sold the Melita operation to his son Alan Bernard (Bernie) Murray, who sold Massey Ferguson, Volkswagen and Chrysler brands. In 1978, Bernie Murray sold the Massey Ferguson dealership to Dwayne Murray.

Both Dwayne and his son Ryan Murray will continue to play key roles in the new organization, according to a news release from both companies.

Enns Brothers has eight other locations in southern Manitoba and over 350 employees.

The deal is expected to close on October 31, 2015.
