Sometimes it’s the little things that go unnoticed that actually have a big impact. Who hasn’t been waylaid by one tiny little part that breaks or goes missing? Big-picture considerations are important too, but the devil, as they say, is in the details.
When it comes to spraying, details can easily be overlooked. When’s the last time you calibrated each nozzle? How do you verify spray quality? How do you evaluate the effectiveness of the spray application? That last one may seem like a doozy, but, as Jason Deveau, spray application specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, explains, the tool you need to evaluate that may cost as few as a few dollars.
In this interview, filmed at SWAC ’15, Real Agriculture’s Lyndsey Smith asks Deveau what new and neat gadgets and gizmos farmers should be looking to add to their sprayer toolkit, and the answers may surprise you. As Lyndsey is likely to remind you, it appears good things do come in small packages.
